Outside In

6 months into quarantine and the work from home life, I finally wore a tie. To my own home office.  There were no big meetings or presentations. Just me and some spreadsheets, a to-do list, and a snazzy tie. Every now and again, it's helpful to approach the day from the outside in. Sometimes, when the inspiration is lagging, the work is just work, and your inspiration is still AWOL on a camping trip, wear something 20% nicer than you normally would.  Looking like a professional helps me act like a professional. It might for you as well.  In the long run, the investment you make on your internal character and competency is the most reliable pathway to success. But in the short run, sometimes all it takes is a tie.
